Getting Your Company Name Out There

January 21st, 2008 by tad

There are all types of businesses online. Just about everyone has their own website in some form or another nowadays whether it be a blog or facepage or full money making ecommerce site. The thing is that I feel that if you have a business there is absolutely no reason that you don’t have a company website. It is one of the easiest ways to make a little extra money and get your company name out there for a very small investment. Think about it. All you have to do is to buy a domain name and get some very cheap web hosting. Then have a graphic designer create you a very basic website to get started. Once your website is up and running it will be submitted to search engines and when people start looking for products or services that your company provides you will start appearing in the search engine results. That is free advertising right there. Your name is getting out there and you will start getting calls. Now personally, I would recommend finding a good shopping cart software program and actually allow people to place orders on your website and that is just free money there. Everyone of those sells is just extra, again with very little investment. If you are trying to grow a business it only makes since to utilize as many resources as possible to get things up as quick as possible.

The Magellan Fund Returns

January 14th, 2008 by tad

I just heard this morning that Fidelity will be reopening its absolutely legendary Magellan Fund as of first thing tomorrow. The reason this is such a big deal is because this $45 billion fund has been closed to new investors since 1997. This was once the largest fund in the world although others have passed it since then. They are expecting big things again from this one and will definitely be worth watching.

No Apples in China

January 14th, 2008 by tad

China Mobile confirms that it has ended talks to team up with Apple on the iPhone. If you have not heard of China Mobile before it is because you do not live in China. If you did live their than you would know that China Mobile’s 370 million subscribers make it the world’s largest mobile-service provider. That is more subscribers than almost of the United States carriers combined. Apple is not giving up on getting into China though, maybe they will try to tie in with China Unicom, the only other cell phone provider in China. The thing is that both companies are state owned and if Apple wants in China they are going to have to cut one hell of a deal.

Ways to Advertise Your New Business

January 11th, 2008 by tad

When it comes to opening a brand new business there is a lot of work that needs to be done in a short amount of time. After you have got your business location all set up and ready to run and your employees trained the next step is to advertise. This is a step that fails or succeeds based on you and what you are willing to do. I have seen business owners spend all of their seed money on the location and supplies and leave absolutely no money for startup advertising. This is a huge mistake. After all, what is the point of having this great business selling this great product if no one knows who you are or what you sell.

There are several things that you can do to advertise your business for a small amount of money but if you really want to succeed I would recommend having a nice little advertising budget to start with. One way that has worked for me in the past is to go out and have a ton of Cheap Postcards made. Then I buy a local mailing list set to the demographic of people that I feel that my product will most likely benefit and want to purchase and I mail those things off like crazy. Believe it or not, these postcards can be very successful. The return rate on actual clients is usually rather low overall but for the amount of money this form of advertising cost you it will more than pay for itself. Not to mention, these postcards will at the very least get your name out there so people will remember you in future purchases.
