I am an avid fan of all sorts of insurance. If there is an insurance you can buy for it, I own it. I guess it is just my cautious side showing through. I mean I have car, boat, home, health, dental and term life insurance. I have every kind of insurance anyone would need for anything. Well just about that is. If you do not have insurance trust me one time that you need it and it is worth every penny.

I have had my boat for some time and have never had any problems or anything but when I am cruising around the inter coastal I am seeing a lot of very expensive boats out there. I am talking around a half of a million dollars for a boat. Personally I would never spend that kind of money on a boat but that is probably because I don’t have that kind of money to spend. The point is that I began to think about what would happen if the tide flipped or turned and pushed my cheap little family boat into someone’s very expensive coastal yacht. That began to worry me, as there is no way that I could afford to pay to fix one of those monsters.

So I started looking around and found that I could get insurance for my boat for almost nothing. I found a company that will do both boat and dinghy insurance. My boat is a little bigger than a dinghy but at least the rates are low. I only pay a couple of hundred dollars for the year to know that I am safe just in case something happens on the water. It would really be a nightmare to bump a boat in the water and get sued and loose my house over a couple of hundred dollar insurance policy.

Here is the big question of the day. Cheap health insurance, does it really exist. See I don’t think that it does. I have lived in several states and I know that no matter where you live there are tons of different health care plans. I also know that no matter where you live there are very few cheap and good health care plans. The good ones are too expensive for the average person to afford and the inexpensive ones offer you little or no coverage. When I lived in California I did a search on affordable health insurance California and found several plans but finding one that actually covered me and made me feel good about what I was getting for my money, now that was not so easy. So if you are out there looking, I can only say to you good luck and I hope you are able to find what I was not.

One thing that most people don’t think about but should be done on a regular basis is checking their car insurance rates. I guess it is just one of those things, like the batteries in the smoke detector or the filter in the air conditioner. The things that should be done but most people forget about. You see car rates vary almost as much as mortgage rates do. The Car Insurance Quote you got from a company last month for car insurance could be considerably lower than the rates that they would give you next month for the exact same coverage. I am not sure why it works that way it just does.

That is why I think that people should always be shopping around and on the lookout for a better company with lower rates. Personally about every 3 months I pull up a website that will allow me to compare quotes from different companies. That way I know if I am getting the best rate or if there is another company out there that can save me some money. I figure that it doesn’t cost me anything to look and with these sites that give you multiple quotes from multiple companies in one shot it doesn’t even take that much time so why not?

I tell you what living in Florida is great. The thing is that is has its ups and its down. Like right now for instance, knowing that hurricane season is just three weeks away could build a little bit of fear in some people’s minds. I am usually pretty kick back about the whole thing though as I have great home insurance if anything were to ever happen. At the same time however I am realistic in the sense that I could lose my personal private assets that are dear to me. I guess that is a chance you take no matter where you live though. I mean I can’t think of anywhere that doesn’t have floods, earthquakes, tornados are blizzards so I guess I will just stay in the sunshine state.
