I watched the Republican National Convention last night and I have to start by saying that Palin really did a great job on her speech last night. She pulled no punches and just flat out spoke the truth. She confronted all of the garbage that has been spread about her and the Republican party in general. She hit back against not only the Democrats but also against what she has seen as unfair treatment by the media.

Hurricane Gustav is aimed directly at Louisiana and the New Orleans residents are not happy about it. People are already lining up at the bus and train stations to get out of town before this thing hits them. It seems like it is not going to be near as bad as the last one that hit them but with all that these people have already been through I am sure that no one wants to take the chance. I mean after all nothing is worth risking your life for.

Yeah this thing is still going on and after two nights of mixed results, the third night of the Democratic National Convention delivered just what Democrats were looking for: reconciliation between the Obamas and the Clintons, an historic presidential nomination.. Bill came out and delivered a great speech to honor both Obama and his wife. He seemed to put aside all problems that the two families have had and stopped all the bashing between them, at least for now. Personally I think he and Hillary are playing it as safe as possible for her to attempt to rerun in 2012.

Just when I thought we were on the right track with gas prices starting to go back down Hurricane Gustav comes and messes it all up. Oil prices rose this morning as Tropical Storm Gustav approached the Gulf of Mexico and threatened to take out our U.S. oil facilities. That’s right U.S. crude rose $2.63 to $118.90 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange as the National Hurricane Center projected Gustav could resume hurricane status and touch the Louisiana coast by Monday. This sucks. I mean here we are finally starting to be able to actually drive again and gas is now going to shoot back up to God knows where. Hell, I am going to have to get another job just to pay the gas bill.

Okay this is getting crazy. I mean we just got Fay out of our hair and already we have another hurricane coming this direction. The last one flooded our neighborhoods, tore down power lines and just flat out pissed me off. But now there is a stronger one on the horizon. Seems Tropical Storm Gustav is off the coast of Haiti and headed into the gulf. That’s it, I think it is time to move back to California.
