Way Too Much Obama

If you haven’t already heard I am sure you will. Obama is about to have his mug plastered all over the major networks tonight, interrupting your favorite television shows for a whole 30 minutes. That’s right he’s bought up the 8 – 8:30 p.m. time slot on CBS, NBC, FOX, and the Spanish speaking network Univision. Like I don’t see his face enough now he is going to be screwing up my television programming so he speak for 30 minutes straight. I can’t wait for this election to be over.

Obama Raises More than 150 MILLION

I don’t know if anyone else has seen this article but this is astounding. It appears that Senator Obama has managed to raise more than 150 million dollars in the month of September alone. This is insane. I have never heard of any candidate raising that kind of money before. It is a record shattering amount of money and I am sure that he is going to use most of it on commercials slandering his opponent.

Bills Past Due

With all of these economical issues going on my company decided to downsize thus causing immediate job less to me and several others. Thinking that it would be okay as I could go work somewhere else, I set myself out in the job finding world only to find that its an awful place. Jobs are way down and there are more seekers than jobs out there. It has been a couple months now and bills are getting past due. This might be much more of an issue than I originally though. I hope the economy changes soon.

Another Wild Debate

Although the first two debates were okay to watch I have to say that this last one was my favorite. I mean sure, they did a lot of recapping of things said in previous debates but at the same time they spent a lot more time actually slamming each other. That is fun to watch no matter who you are. They were all up on each other’s issues and personal stuff and really going at it. That made the whole thing much more interesting to me.

700 Billion Approved

Well, it’s official. The U.S. House of Representatives voted to approve the revised $700 billion bailout plan for the financial markets earlier today. The original version of the plan that was rejected just four days ago must have had some flaws in it that they believe to be fixed. President Bush just needs to sign the papers and it is a done deal.

I can’t believe it. I mean I am in total shock and disbelief right now. Not only did they vote to not pass the 700 billion dollar bailout due to Nancy’s lame scare the people speech but the dow dropped like mad. 770 something point point drop in a single day. The worst ever single day drop in history and that includes during the great depression. Yeah, uh huh. We surely aren’t in recession. Please. What the heck is going on in congress anyway?

Where is Our Economy Going

I have been watching the news very closely and although I think we are on the overall right track I am afraid that the short term decisions are not going to cut it. There are too many things being done to try and bailout the short term problems and no attention going into the long term resolution of this problem. That is going to take much more planning and work by both political parties together to figure out. I just hope everyone can stop fighting long enough to figure this out together.

California Economy in the Crapper

According to a recent study by UCLA California’s economy is actually more sluggish than the rest of the nations. According to UCLA Anderson Forecast senior economist David Shulman, who authored the September forecast says, “real GDP growth to be about 1 percent in the current quarter and essentially zero in both the fourth quarter of this year and the first quarter of 2009. What we are describing is an economy operating at its ‘stall speed’ where any modest shock can trigger a full-blown recession.” Things are not looking good in Cali right now and I think I am actually glad I moved out of there when I did.

700 Billion on Hold?

It seems that the US Senate is not liking President Bush’s financial bailout plan as much as the companies who need it are. They have put the thing into a slight hold as they feel it needs “more careful discussion and consideration”. Although I agree with that to a point I also know that if something is not done fast there is going to be even more backlash from this. The problem is that it is a no win situation. They approve it fast and there is 700 billion floating around with little rules and regulations but the economy is okay. They don’t and the economy crashes and we are all in trouble.

Attack on US Embassy

Earlier today there was an attack on the US Embassy in Yemen. Apparently 6 bombers hit all at once. Yemeni security officials and witnesses said the death toll was at least 16, including four bystanders, one of them an Indian woman. The other dead were six attackers and six security guards, the Yemeni officials said, speaking in return for anonymity because they were not authorized to brief reporters. Luckily there were no Americans hurt in the blast. It is a terrible thing and our hearts and prayers are with the victims families.
